In the summer of 2021, the city where I was born and raised and currently reside, I experienced something I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. During a worldwide pandemic, a heinous election year, and a gross injustice on behalf of the Kenosha Police Department in the shooting of Jacob Blake; there was rioting, looting, buildings, cars, and other random items being lit on fire. Proud boys from the country were roaming the streets with machine guns, my friends protesting and fighting in favor of black lives and experiencing the push-back from riot police, and other friends trying to protect the people who live here and the city in which they live – just trying to keep things from getting too out of hand.
One of the people fighting for black lives was Anthony Huber. He unfortunately got caught in the line of fire trying to tear away a machine gun from the hands of a 17 year old boy. This was a horrific and tragic loss to Anthony’s family, friends, and the skateboard community.

I designed a skateboard graphic using Processing and hand-drawn illustrations for the local skateboard shop, Southport Rigging. All proceeds go toward expanding the skatepark that is in town and putting it in Anthony’s name in his honor.
